Since 2002 owner and chef Joseph Zamora has been in the kitchen cooking the best steak and seafood on the coast. When you meet him his passion for food is obvious.
He takes great joy from creating beautiful dishes that people love and enjoy. When he and his family took over the Hilltop House it immediately became a destination on the coast.
After earning his Culinary Arts degree in 1969 he went to Alaska to work and train with some very talented European chefs in some of the best restaurants. As his reputation grew, he was selected to be the Food Service Director for NBC sports at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul Korea.
He then moved his family south to the Oregon coast, falling in love with the small town of Coos Bay. He saw it as the perfect place to raise a family and open his own restaurant. The Hilltop House was the perfect location to showcase his love of seafood.
After 14 years he is proud to have made the Hilltop House one of the top rated restaurants on the Oregon coast.
He has won awards such as The Best Dinner on the Coast, The Best Seafood on the Coast and The Best Steak on the Coast.
He is continually creating new and exciting entrees and strives to make your dining experience memorable and delicious!
